I love theatre, philosophy, the outdoors, people and lots of other things.
I don't like that cat doll seen everywhere in Japan (and in Cambodia too) - whose paw bobs up and down slowly and deliberately...creepy.
My experience with PEPY involved:
I saw the opening ceremonies of the Preah Lean primary school. I sanded and painted a wall on the grounds of the the Pepy Ride school, but not before spending the night (over)-exposed to Cambodian wedding rituals. I biked and tuk-tuked around some of the temples around Siem Reap, saw a performance of Apsala and checked out some other NGO's in the area including a couple of the Krousar Thmey projects, and the Sangkheum Center for Children.
My favorite PEPY memories are:
Hard to narrow down. Seeing the Preah Lean kids arrive at Angkor Wat and biking alongside their truck on the way to Angkor Thom are both worth remembering, teaching English to the most enthusiastic group of students I think I've ever taught is also a pretty special memory.
Since my time with PEPY, I have been:
Continuing to teach in Japan, preparing for some serious reverse culture shock.
My plans for the future include:
Graduate School, teaching, throwing some stellar PEPY parties, hopefully interning with PEPY!
I am inspired by:
There is a long list of writers and musicians that is very difficult to narrow down, but mostly I'm inspired by many remarkable people I've had the good fortune of meeting. That list is also hard to narrow to a readable length. (Some of you reading this are definitely on it though!)
