I'm a second year ALT in Harima-cho, Japan! I come from Pennsylvania in America. I'm 24 years old. I live in Japan with my boyfriend of almost 4 years, Clayton. I heart chocolate ice cream, monkeys, frisbee sports, and TRAVEL! I went to school for Electronic Media (and finished) but completely changed my mindset after participating on a Semester at Sea (where I also met Clayton).
My favorite PEPY memories are:
Getting "suction cup therapy" with Brenda in Phnom Penh, the spontaneous dance party outside of the "Friends" restaurant, eating spiders in Skuon, watching the students race out of the PEPY school in search of garbage, and lazing around in the rapids of the Mekong River.
Since my time with PEPY, I have been:
Wasting away at school, anticipating my next trip and the prospects of graduate school.
My plans for the future include:
After finishing up JET this year, I plan on going to graduate school for TESOL, most likely at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. After that, I hope to join the Peace Corps!
I'm also applying to the Peace Boat... but we'll see how that works out!
Yeah, definitely do it! I think the more we raise, the better. I think Mike Shu did a pancake breakfast in Himeji last year... maybe we COULD do something with the IFA?
Wow, you got this up fast! I just got the link today. Anyways, I am getting P-U-M-P-E-D. I'm planning to stop by Sanno this week to check on the results of our first PEPY Fundraisor (woohoo!). I'll fill ya in when I know more;-)
yeah, despite indoctrination in capitalist nation-states, people are still able to retain their intrinsic human spirit. just wait till you get to Cambodia, where most people are NOT indoctrinated with capitalist nationalism: I have never seen so many beautiful smiles in my life. btw having bake sales at IFA and school worked well for me...
