Heya, sorry for the late response!

I'm still not exactly sure what the Pepy Ride Japan actually is though.:P

Is it something where participants get sponsors for a certain distance, and then go around a set loop? Or do people just pay a one time donation, and then all bike together?

Aileen, I've been keeping up with your blogs and the emails you've sent out on the PPP. You are doing a great job representing PEPY in Japan!! I'm so glad I had the chance to work with you for a little bit, and I hope you get to return to Cambodia soon, I know I want to!

Hey Aileen,

Sorry, haven't really gotten round to using this site yet, so apologies for late reply! Truth be told, through a combination alcohol and early-onset senility, Edinburgh orientation is now a bit of distant blur for me... However, obviously I'm looking forward to meeting you all over again!

Cheers,
Alex

Golden Week Adventure

Over a year has passed since I first thought “Hhmm…..this PEPY organization sounds interesting, I wonder what they do.” Nearly a year has passed since my first trip to Cambodia with PEPY. And there’s only a little over a month left until my next one, and I can’t wait!

Although I had heard of PEPY before, and even sponsored a friend who was taking part in a PEPY trip, it took me about a year of living here in Japan, before I actually started to find out what PEPY was all about. Even just from th… Continue

Run Aileen Run: A Debrief

So, I did it!!!

The day started off nicely. The weather was insanely good for the start of February in Japan (global warming anyone?) so we chilled out around the stadium, registered, did some warming up around the car park and got ready. While Hiro was doing crazy stretches outside the car, I was checking my hair was alright and wasn't going to get in my eyes while I was running - clearly I had my priorities sorted from the start!

We went up to the stadium shortly before the race was due to s… Continue

PEPY Ride Japan: JETs on Jitenshas

Calling all budding cyclists!!! Are you a natural born leader? Do you want to be part of PEPY's newest fundraising event in Japan?! Could you lead a team of volunteers on a bike ride around your prefecture?!

If you answered yes to any of the above, please read on! And if you didn't, read on anyway!

Myself and Josh Bloomfield are currently working on putting together a new nationwide PEPY fundraising event here in Japan. The event would see teams of JETs participating in bike rides in their res… Continue

Run Aileen Run

It's the middle of winter in Japan. I'm sitting in my apartment, with no heating on. And I'm dripping with sweat.

How can that possibly be?!

Well, apparently even in the coldest of nipple freezing temperatures, doing exercise makes you sweat! And that's exactly what I've been doing. Exercising. And sweating.

So what? People exercise all the time. Big deal.

Yes, I agree. But for lazy arse Aileen, who enjoys spending her time sitting on her bum, ramming chocolate into her mouth and complaining… Continue

Why is Aileen listening to AWESOME Scottish music?!

A. Because she is Scottish and likes Scottish music
B. Because her sister sent her a great contemporary Scottish folk music CD for Christmas
C. Because she is gearing up to host a traditional Scottish event to raise funds for PEPY
D. All of the above

Well, obviously the answer is D!

Traditionally Burns Night takes place on January 25th, the birthday of Scottish poet Robert Burns, to celebrate his life and works. Over the past two years that I have been in Japan, my friend Chris and I have ho… Continue
